From the dawn of time… shown here as fog and pines… humans have been awed by the ferocity of the honey badger…
Why would you not be a little alarmed? Honey Badgers are warm, fuzzy, cuddly creatures, wrapped in fur, fangs, claws, and a lousy attitude. Let us explore what might cause this dichotomy.
Most of the humans reading this will know the back story of our honey badger, but for those of you new to the fam, here’s where it all started.
Flowers courtesy of SilEightyMania https://podcast.sileightymania.com/ and Sachiko Studio https://www.sachikostudio.com/ as well as https://sachikogoesracing.com/ Might we suggest following all of them and buying lots of merch and books.
Public Service Announcement: When considering a pet, why not consider a cat? Shown above in all their cuddliness, these alert and well-groomed felines could be yours. We suggest a home without children or other pets as well as sturdy leather gloves for petting.

Thanks to the Posse of Awesome and the ride or dies, who define classiness, there was a celebration of life, a burial, and a wake. All events were full of laughter, tears, music, inappropriate stories, and drunkenness. As befits a collection of such folks. you know who you are. Never change.
*Note: the sale of 2201 Lincoln completed on March 30, 2022 much to the sadness of friends and family. We will remember the creative themed parties, the brain expanding conversations, the belly laughs, the fellowship and camraderie, and the amazing amount of alcohol consumed. We will forget any rough patches and vow to keep our posse whole.

Thom, Rachel, and Ira Smolowinters graced us with a visit. Shown on the left is Thom and son, Ira, engineering a gingerbread house. [picture redacted] Rachel chose to knit during the operation, until it was time for decoration. Shown below is the finished product. Notice the open floor plan due to stupid icing failure. It was all London Bridge up in here. Falling down. but? Fun was had by all with much laughter.

JANUARY
Another year older, still fighting through the ‘firsts’
Ongoing battle with Atlantic Bay Mortgage re: 3408 Wheeler Rd. While the fine and incredibly odd court system of Georgia awarded me a year’s support (year = forever; support = all assets), Atlantic Bay Mortgage refuses to speak with me. The stalemate causes a world of hurt, as the house will NOT sell, no matter what we do (market crashed a mere three weeks after the birth of honey badger) and not being able to work with the mortgage company forces me to abandon the house for foreclosure. (see: October 2023)
FEBRUARY
Mere minutes away from Harold’s Bane (Lake Norman, British history, get it? Read a book) is Dynamic Ballroom. On a whim, honey badger decided to learn to dance and signed up for private lessons from Dirk Myers II. Best decision ever. Turns out dance is incredibly difficult and has soooooooo many moving parts (no pun intended) Hold THIS part of your body this way, but hold THAT part this way. Lean forward, but not too far. I know your mother told you not to shuffle your feet, but lead with your toes and never let your soles lose contact with the floor. Stand up straight, shoulders down, tone, and forward poise. Oh, and if you are dancing this type of dance, don’t look at your partner, but another type of dance you DO look at your partner. It’s hard, y’all. Thankfully, Dirk appears to be able to maintain his patience as I learn. And, boy howdy, it is FUN.

JUNE
Saydie and Maren are wed. Beautiful ceremony and reception. Too busy having fun to take many pictures.
There were pictures taken of Harry and Willie discussing the finer points of ties and full Windsor vs. Eldredge knots. For more information on Eldredge knots… https://images.app.goo.gl/xRjhLexEDsAJUSBc7
What might a honey badger choose to do after a family wedding in Minnesota? Why have open heart surgery, of course. And, this is a huge thank you to the best care team a honey badger could have, headed up by Dr. Timothy Brand. Everyone was amazing. Biggest thanks to my heartstrings (family, friends, posse) who supported and cared for me, as always. J’Adore
JULY - SEPTEMBER
Birthdays missed, etc. etc. Cause it turns out you are pretty stupid and out of it after your chest is opened. OH, and really really emotional. It’s a thing. Sorry gang. Swear I will do better in 2024.
OCTOBER
During a foreclosure proceeding, I suggest you get a drug dealer burner phone, cause all the scam artists will come OUT OF THE WOODWORK. All hours day/night… they want to HELP you get what you are owed, for a small amount of overhead cost (read pound of flesh) Fortunately, I was so over that house I entered full-blown honey badger mode and actually……. well, I am not allowed to speak about it until the investigation is over. No one was physically harmed. a few feelings may have been hurt. The house is no longer owned by me, the mortgage company took a hit, and it’s on the market for ~500k. right.
NOVEMBER
Not to be outdone by June, November decided to bring it with a second open heart surgery. More missed birthdays, etc. Again, family (let’s just say anyone I love is part of my family) stepped up in force. Redacted picture indicates my total lack of understanding what was coming. Blissfully Optimistic.
DECEMBER
Thanks again to family we inhabited a pet-free Air BnB zone, which allowed us to be together during recuperation without allergies kicking in.
This is actually what your heart looks like on the inside. it’s rearranging the fingers that gets so complicated.
