Super illegal tresspass

There are times when you just HAVE to go visit the past. It’s a compulsion. Especially when you are already mere blocks away for a much better reason… like to go to the Cottontown Art Crawl to support Amy Holloman, newly-launched pottery genius. (Before you ask, yes I DID purchase a sample of her beautious work). And, for those of you who understand and correctly use parentheses and quotation marks, etc. Shut up.

Back to the illegal part…

Cruising into Elmwood Park was weird. Everything seemed the same, sort of. But, there was an uncanny valley vibe that I could not shake. Perhaps I no longer belong and the neighborhood was letting me know that in a creepy doll, you don’t have to go home but you can’t stay here, who the hell are you anyway, kind of way.

As you can see, the “squatters” (yes, I know they actually own the house) chose to paint OUR house a lovely shade of ? blue? green? something. The door is nice and I like the light fixtures. The yard? wow. I kind of think it’s funny that both transplanted boulders have not been moved. Everyone remember that adventure?

The front path blue slate pieces are all in a pile, so maybe they will be reused for the walkways. Hope so, even if they will never know how much fun we had with the rented jackhammer to break up what we thought was shallow concrete that turned out to be four feet deep in places. Pro Tip: you NEED a belly to effectively manage a jackhammer. it is NOT a rude stereotype cliche’ of a jackhammer operator.

Might be sappy of me, but I am really glad they left the camelia alone.

Only one post per corner on the porch? hrm. I am fascinated by what they chose to keep and what they chose to change/add. What do you figure the window above the bathroom is? and why not make the tiny off-center bathroom window larger? I think they must have raised the whole back of the house to match the front. cool idea.

Shed is gone, but dangerous leaning tree is still there. This makes me SMH. I can’t see if the fig tree is still there, scared to press my luck. Looks like the West Wing is now the settin porch. Think they’ll put in a fountain? Wanted to peek in the window to check out their kitchen solution, but…………. at some point the neighbors would call the po po. cause the sledgehammer I was carrying could be construed as dangerous, I suppose.

so beautiful……. would this not look good in Patrick and Maria’s yard? Cuttings could be sent all over the country.

Please remember the pledge you all took if they actually move the boulder and reveal our secret….
